As seen in my latest battle report, I recently completed a new project. Star Trek in the 23rd century is a period I have danced around for years. Only with the maturity of 3D printing and my own skills with it did I decide to finally take the plunge. Thus far I have completed my Starfleet and Klingon fleets with the Romulans on the way.
As designed, my Starfleet force includes 46 models. Every model I 3D printed, making the entire project an in house affair (except basing materials). Collecting the .stl files was fairly straight forward but a few models required adjustments and in one case a complete rebuild.

For this project I designed the entire force as a numbered fleet, the same fleet I designed for the Dominion War, just a century earlier. The 7th Fleet is one of the oldest continuous formation's in Starfleet, stretching back to the late 22nd century.
Federation Class Dreadnought
My Metaverse 2nd Edition stats can be found here. The three most prominent command ships of the 7th fleet are Federation Class Dreadnoughts. This a refit of the classic capital ship and while not exactly primary canon is a fun and silly secondary canon design I had to include.

The main reason any of us do a 23rd century project is for the best looking ship class in star trek (fight me). Both cruiser wings feature this iconic ship with nine total in the fleet.
Constellation Class Cruiser

Perhaps a bit underpowered and overworked by Picard's time, newly built in the late 23rd century, the Constellation Class is a potent cruiser. Three of these serve alongside my Constitutions in the second cruiser wing.
Miranda Class Cruiser

I already had numerous Mirandas in my collection due to their continued presence up to the Dominion War. However, having ordered them from Shapeways years ago, I figured I could output a better quality model myself. I ended up only needing ten models for this period replacing that many of my existing models. At some point I will replace the other twelve I have, maybe, someday.
Anton Class Cruiser

Essentially just a larger Miranda without the rollbar, the Anton proved to be a pain. I could not find a detailed enough model that would print correctly. Thus, I was forced to do some modelling, mostly of the nacelle pylons and nacelles. Even though I only needed two, it feels worth it.

The Soyuz is an interesting case, is it a science vessel; are those sensors or phaser turrets? I fall on the phaser side of the argument viewing the Soyuz as a kind of long range patrol ship forgoing torpedo tubes to avoid ammunition problems on long cruises. Two of these escort the flagship lending their phaser cannons to the fight.

In my imagining, the 7th Fleet is stationed near the junction of Klingon, Romulan, and Federation space. This makes counter-cloak or ELINT assets a must. The Saratoga subclass of the venerable Miranda comes equipped with enhanced sensor systems and communications gear, giving the fleet a far easier time dealing with cloaked targets. Each of the three squadrons of the scout wing is lead by a Saratoga.
Abbe Class Destroyer

Going further afield from canon, we find the Abbe class destroyer with its prominent dorsal torpedo pod. This fanon design will upset many a purist but I found a great .stl file and had to print it. So now I have two, deal with it.
Miranda Class Cruiser (Saratoga Subclass)

Everyone's favorite beta canon design, the Loknar appears in the destroyer wings of the 7th Fleet. This design's four torpedo tubes gives the little ship quite the punch for her size, plus she looks cool. I ended up having to do some cosmetic upgrades to this file as it was lacking in some detail plus I replaced the nacelles.
Wilkerson Class Destroyer

While the Loknar may be many people's favorite, the Wilkerson does it for me. Essentially just a bigger Akula, the Wilkerson is a hardy destroyer with decent armament and defences though appears in limited numbers.
Akula Class Frigate

Smaller than the Wilkerson but available in far greater numbers, the Akula is a decent frigate. Four of these odd looking ships feature in the destroyer wings of the 7th Fleet.
Saladin Class Destroyer and Hermes Class Scout

The Saladin and Hermes are very light ships based on the same basic hull. I found a good file for the Saladin but could not find one for the Hermes. This was solved by simply removing the torpedo launchers from the nacelle pylon. Saladins appear in the destroyer wings and Hermes in the scout wing.

This is the only model in the fleet that I did not print myself, only because I already had an Oberth for my Dominion War collection, mostly as a target.
